Foxconn CEO meets CM; firm's Plant at Doddaballapura to generate 40,000 jobs

Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn, which has lined up a Rs 22,000 crore outlay in Karnataka that includes a manufacturing unit near Doddaballapura, is expected to generate 40,000 direct jobs in the state. Foxconn chief Young Liu, who flew into the city from Delhi Friday, said the unit in Karnataka is expected to become the second-largest Foxconn plant after its China unit.

Liu said: "It will create 40,000 CM Siddaramaiah, deputy CM DK Shivakumar and minister MB Patil with Foxconn CEO Young Liu direct jobs, especially for mid-level educated individuals, and our investment will not stop here. We plan to explore other sectors also. If there is mutual trust, anything can be achieved."

"The state will extend full support to Foxconn. We will provide everything from water, electricity & roads to legal assistance," said CM Siddaramaiah after meeting Liu.
